ABOUT LIMESTONE
Limestone is a sedimentary rock
composed largely of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate: CaCO3). Pure
limestones are basically white or almost white in colour. When mixed
with impurities like clay, sand, organic remains, iron oxide and other
materials, limestones is available in various colors.
Depending upon the formation, limestones may be crystalline, clastic, granular or massive in nature. The stones are easily available and can be easily cut into blocks or in other elaborate carving. Being long-lasting, it is perfect to be used in various architectural purposes. AVAILABLE IN FORMS
Often limestones contains varying
amounts of silica, clay, silt and sand, it is available in the form of
chert or flint, nodules, or layers within the rock.
